Update on the abused dogs near Lake Mathews, Wednesday 4:42 p.m.: Eleven dogs are found dead, 25 alive (some barely). Property owner not yet found. Multiple agencies searching.
Animal control authorities believe the owner was breeding but that was not immediately confirmed. All of the 26 dogs found alive were so thin their ribs could be counted. The animals will be sent to the Western Riverside County Animal Shelter in Jurupa Valley. It is not known if all the dogs will survive.

A gruesome discovery of sick, starving and dead animals has been reported to be discovered near Lake Matthews.
Riverside County Supervisor, Kevin Jeffries wrote, "Our office has preliminary report from county animal services of a very disgusting situation whereby possibly 30 starving and sick dogs, as well as up to half dozen dead dogs have been found at an unattended property near the Lake Mathews community."
