A Grinch stole toys that were donated for Christmas gifts from a Temecula based non-profit. The storage unit used to store the Temecula Food Pantry Christmas Toys/Christmas Dinner was robbed, Thursday Dec.17.
Boys and girls from low and extremely low income families are scheduled to pick up gifts in three days.
“We are all heartbroken. We are supposed to hand out toys to over 100 families and dinner to 300 families on Dec. 21, 22, and 23,” wrote GeriLyn Blanton Mellin in a post on a Facebook group, Temecula Unfiltered.
“We don't know how we can replace everything especially in such short notice,” said Mellin. “Can we as a community of unity get together and help give these families a Merry Christmas.”
The situation sounded like a story line taken from the popular Dr. Seuss book, “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.”
Mellin, however is determined to not let a Grinch ruin her spirit. Mellin is asking the people of Temecula to unite in strength and numbers to save Christmas for the boys and girls who are coming to the food pantry next week.
“Often times when there seems to be nothing God makes miracles happen,” wrote Mellin. Mellin, like Cindy Lu in the Dr. Seuss book is keeping faith that Christmas can be saved.
“If you would like to donate toys or gift cards or a donation we will be open Friday, December 18, 2015 from 8:00 am till 12:00 pm.,” wrote Mellin.
