Jeanette is Serena’s aunt whom she was living with for the last two years.
On May, 5 Jeannette was awarded permanent custody of Serena after having primary custody since 2014. Serena’s mom was also released from jail on March 24.
“I don’t think Serna’s mom is hiding her but I am not ruling it out. Her mom lives in Julian with her grandmother and the police have visited the grandmother,” said Jeannette. “This is not her character. She was home schooled she doesn’t have many friends here. Police are looking in Julian where her mother is and a friend.”
Private Investigator Scott Herring who is working on the case confirmed with the Sun News and Review the biological mother could not be reached.
Jeanette said the night her niece went missing she heard Serena having an inappropriate conversation with a 15-year old boy on the phone from Texas.
“I took the phone from her immediately. The police went through her phone and no one from her contacts is a suspect,” said Jeannette.

Serena reportedly had numerous out of state contacts on her phone from a phone app. one they think is KIK.
“All we can think is searching around their home and looking at videos from local restaurants. We will start from where she left and search canals. We may look into Julian we are going from nothing,” said Jeannette.
Serena’s father according to Jeanette has a relationship with the child and he is also trying to help find his daughter.

“I just want her to come home or call us and let us know she is ok just anything just some direction. I love her so much I can’t sleep, can’t eat, I have two other children. She is so loved and missed. We are exhausting all our resources,” said Jeanette.
Herring said they are still looking into the contacts on her phone and are not ruling anything or anyone out at this time.
The search team will be meeting to search for Serena and pass out fliers. The date and time has not been set at the time of this article being printed.
