Texan, Ted Cruz a candidate for President of the United States, who ran as an outsider disgruntled by the status quo in Washington has dropped out of the 2016 race.
Cruz announced his departure Tuesday night in Indiana. Cruz is the last major obstacle in candidate Donald Trump’s bid to become the Republican nominee for president.
The decision by Cruz came after a landslide loss to Trump in the Indiana primary. Cruz told the crowd at an Indiana event that he made a promise at the beginning of his campaign he would step down if all possible routes to become nominee were exhausted.
Trump, the real estate mogul seems to have a clear path to win the nomination at the Republican National Convention in July. Ohio candidate John Kasich remains in the race despite coming in behind Cruz in the Indiana Primary.
In the Democratic race Bernie Sanders is projected to have won in Indiana against Hillary Clinton. Sanders winning will be an upset for Clinton was projected to win according to polls.
Trump will be speaking in moments live on main televsion.
"Cruz was one tough competitor," said Trump. "We will win in November. We will win big."

"We will have great economic development," said Trump.
"I didn't expect this. What Ted did was very brave. We have to bring unity. It is so much easier if we have it," said Trump.
