MENIFEE – The results are in. Questions were asked, residents and community stakeholders spoke, and opinions were recorded to complete the city’s Parks, Trails, Open Space and Recreation Master Plan document. During its March 16 meeting, Menifee City Council unanimously adopted it as a background document to the city’s General Plan. The Parks Master Plan document is available online at www.cityofmenifee.us/CommunityServices.
“Completing this 18-month long Parks Master Plan project gives the City a very comprehensive, organized and detailed overview of Menifee’s recreational resources and needs,” said Mayor Scott Mann. “This information is critical to our mission of delivering quality recreational programming, services and facilities to further enhance Menifee residents’ quality of life.”
The plan provides a detailed inventory of Menifee’s existing resources and identifies Menifee’s recreation programming and facility needs to accommodate the city’s future growth. It offers suggested recommendations for each, along with funding and implementation plans.
The facility needs assessment results show Menifee’s highest priority facility needs are bike trails, trails for walking/jogging/hiking and sidewalks; aquatics facility (swimming pool, competitive pool, water park); soccer fields; baseball fields; and softball fields.
“City staff, with the direction of the City Council and support from the Parks, Recreation and Trails Commission, is dedicated to begin systematically implementing recommendations from the master plan,” added Menifee City Manager Rob Johnson. “The community will begin to see revitalized park amenities, upgraded facilities and new programs throughout 2016 and beyond.” Johnson continued, “We are very excited to connect city hall with the community through this process and appreciate receiving feedback through our Community Services Department and city events.”
