On November 30, 2015 the Murrieta Police Department was informed of an alleged inappropriate relationship involving a teacher at Murrieta Valley High School (MVHS) with a male student who is a minor. The case was forwarded to the department's detective bureau for a follow up investigation. Detectives interviewed the minor who told detectives that one of his teachers began showing interest in him over a year ago. The interest with the minor started with texting after hours. As the relationship grew, the minor and the teacher engaged in oral sex and ultimately sexual intercourse. The relationship between the teacher and student was brought to the attention of MVHS administrators by other students on November 30, 2015. School officials immediately contacted the Murrieta Police Department. The teacher was identified as Mrs. Shannon Fosgett, a 44-year-old female and Murrieta resident. According to the Murrieta Valley Unified School District Administration, Mrs. Fosgett resigned from her teaching position on December 2. Fosgett turned herself in to Murrieta P.D. detectives on December 4, and placed under arrest for, unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 18 (1 count) and oral copulation with a minor (2 counts). Fosgett was booked at the Southwest Detention Center.
